As of January 1st 2007, motorcycle and scooter operators that are under the age of 21 will have to display the new red lettered license plates stating that the operator is under 21 years of age. According to the DMV office this will be for police to enforce the use of a mandatory safety helmet as per law. Tickets and citations will be issued to infractors.
